Job Summary

I. JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of a Foster Care Behavioral Aide is to assist the foster care department in serving children families and foster families as well as provide support and respite services to children families and foster families in the Treatment Foster Care Program. Responsible for transporting clients as assigned from a designated pick-up site to a designated host setting and light maintenance of fleet inventory.
II. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assists with monitoring birth and family visits at the agency or in the community.
  • Assists with transporting consumers.
  • Assist foster care staff with emergency situations that may require providing services during evening and weekend hours.
  • Transport clients as necessary in an agency vehicle
  • Assist with boarding and departure as necessary for clients
  • Keep required vehicle logs; prepares and writes reports as necessary.
  • Provides light operator maintenance taking the vehicle for gas and recording usage.
  • Operate within the guidelines of the Employee Handbook programs Operation Manual and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
III. BASIC COMPETENCIES
Education and Experience:
  • Possess a minimum of a high school diploma although an associate or higher is preferred.
  • Have a valid State of Michigan drivers license and have a reliable insured vehicle available to provide transportation as necessary.
  • Commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Have a flexible work schedule that allows for the provision of TFC behavioral support services during non-typical business hours.
Knowledge Requirements:
  • Knowledge of behavior patterns of youth and methods of modifying behavior.
  • Understanding group dynamics and sensitivity to individual members of the group.

Skills and Abilities Needed:
  • Effectively engage children and adults
  • Manage time and multiple priorities; meet deadlines.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees other agencies foster parents adoptive families and the public.
  • Must be congenial patient and reliable with the ability to relate to staff and clients andgain their respect and confidence.
  • Exercise professional judgment in making decisions.
  • Appropriately handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Attend training and maintain necessary certifications and licenses.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the social sector with a passion for MCHSs mission and vision.
  • Maintain a Michigan drivers license and driving record that allows the operation of an agency or personal vehicle for agency business or to transport clients as needed.
