The Assistant Director of Events and Engagement leads the planning execution and evaluation of USF College of Education signature events serving as a key driver of audience engagement brand experience and institutional visibility. Reporting to the Director of Marketing this role oversees a comprehensive portfolio of college-wide events ensuring each experience reflects the colleges mission and values and is strategically designed to advance its visibility and reputation.

The Assistant Director collaborates with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and serves as a trusted advisor translating goals into engaging well-executed partnership with marketing and communications this role identifies opportunities to enhance engagement before during and after events through integrated digital touchpoints and strategic follow-up. The position is responsible for all aspects of event production including concept development timelines logistics run-of-show vendor coordination and on-site management as well as event setup and breakdown.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary lead for planning and executing college-wide events and managing the annual events calendar to ensure it is aligned with institutional priorities and marketing objectives. Will manage alltransactions necessary for the creation and management of events including approvals at the central level and requesting presence of Rocky or leadership for talking points.
  • Track and analyze event metrics such as attendance engagement and feedback to assess success inform future planning and support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner closely with marketing team and other stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination consistent messaging and management of CRM for events.
  • Supervise event staff student workers and volunteers as applicable. Manage relationships with vendors venues and service providers to ensure high-quality delivery and adherence to brand and service expectations.
  • Performs additional marketing and communications tasks as needed to support the overall goals and initiatives of the College.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Hospitality Management Event Management Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience planning and executing large-scale multi-stakeholder events.
  • Proven experience managing event budgets contracts and vendors
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership faculty staff and external partners
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to support event schedules
  • Demonstrated success measuring event impact and using data or feedback to improve future programming
  • Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.
    Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
    SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
    A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
    (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
    (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
    (c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
    (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
    (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
    Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure certification or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
    Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading higher education events with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Proficiency with standard office project management and marketing tools such as Microsoft Office and Asana
  • Familiarity with event technologies such as registration platforms CRM systems and virtual/hybrid event tools
  • Experience supervising staff student employees or volunteers
  • Experience managing high-profile events involving senior leadership VIPs or external speakers
