Job Summary

Part-time position. No benefits.

TITLE: GIFTED and TALENTED TEACHER

QUALIFICATIONS: Possess Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate with endorsement for teaching gifted/talented at the appropriate level

REPORT TO/EVALUATED BY: Director of Gifted and Talented

BASIC FUNCTION: To help identified gifted and talented students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible men and women.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  1. Guide the development of curriculum and instructional materials to meet the needs of gifted and talented students
  2. Initiate and develop educational projects and programs for gifted and talented.
  3. Design/plan instruction and create a learning environment that develops identified gifted and talented student abilities to use communication skills apply core concepts become self-sufficient individuals become responsible team members think and solve problems and integrate knowledge.
  4. Reflect on and evaluate teaching/learning of gifted and talented students.
  5. Collaborate with regular classroom teachers to design implement and support learning programs that develop student abilities to use communication skills apply core concepts become responsible team members think and solve problems and integrate knowledge.
  6. Serve as resource person in gifted education for all district personnel.
  7. Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy administrative regulations and gifted program plan.
  8. Participate in appropriate faculty meetings grade level meetings committees and the sponsorship of pupil co-curricular activities as designed.
  9. Promote good public relations with parents regular classroom teachers administrators and other members of the community at large.
  10. Provide guidance to help gifted students accept their gifts and their role to society at large.
  11. Assist with the assessment of students to determine eligibility for gifted services.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal or the Director of Gifted and Talented.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
