Salary: circa 65000 depending on skills and experience

Wevealready delivered a 45m pathfinder programme and are now scaling up to a 1.5bn initiative over the next decade. Were excited to announce a brand-new opportunity to join our Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force as a SuDS Designer.

About the role

The key purpose of the role is to provide technical input design guidance and oversight of the SuDS design and construction process. Making decisions and recommendations that are recognised as authoritative and have an important impact on engineering design the majority of cases the role holder will have the final input on the design to be constructed.

What you will be responsible for:

Oversee the design of any SuDS interventions which are required as part of the spills reduction programme. Provide input challenge steer and governance to ensure we design and deliver functional and effective SuDS schemes.
Ensure design programme is achievable provide early warning of delays and ensure designs are delivered on time. Involve all the relevant stakeholders appropriately in design.
Represent Southern Water on industry bodies/forums and in collaboration with other water companies on matters relating to SuDS.

What youll bring to the role:

Strong understanding of UK drainage regulations planning frameworks and environmental standards.
Experience of SuDS design and familiarity with industry standard software packages
MEng/BEng/BSc or HND/HNC in an Engineering Environmental or numerate science related subject.
Very good communication and presentation skills. High level ability to present & articulate technical ideas and arguments to both technical experts and lay people. Excellent verbal and written English.
Can challenge colleagues and the supply chain to ensure robust interventions are designed and delivered.
