Organizational Unit

The Institute for School-Community Partnerships Integrated Services and Child Mental Health and Educational Policy (ISCP) which is part of the College of Education envisions that all schools in the state of Florida and nationally will have the capacity to provide a safe effective and efficient environment to continuously improve the academic social and emotional growth of all students and to actively engage families and communities in education. The ISCPs nearly $23 million budget is derived from grants from federal state and private sources. It is the mission of the ISCP to implement and evaluate research-based and innovative practices in school and community settings. This is accomplished through (a) training technical assistance and support to key partners; (b) community-engaged research and program evaluation to inform key partners decision making; (c) the development of research and evidence-based documents tools and resources to support implementation and evaluation activities; and (d) supporting the infrastructure and capacity of key partners to implement and evaluate federal and state educational policy.

Position Summary

This position is located within the Bureau of Standards and Instructional Support (BSIS) at the Florida Department of Education (FDOE). It resides in the K-12 Division of Public Schools (DPS) and reports directly to the Bureau Chief. The Student-Centered Instruction Program Specialist is responsible for advancing benchmarks-aligned high-quality student-centered instruction across all content areas supported by the Bureau of Standards and Instructional Support (BSIS). Rooted in Floridas Formula for Success the Program Specialist provides leadership and professional learning to ensure instruction is benchmarks-aligned informed by data and accessible for all learners. This role supports educators in creating collaborative and independent learning environments where students are actively engaged in challenging tasks. Expertise in creating and supporting student-centered learning environments knowledge of evidence-based instructional approaches across all tiers of instruction and intervention and skill in using assessment data to inform and improve instruction as necessary. This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities

Provides support to FDOE staffto integrate student-centered approaches across all subject areas.

Provides support and delivers professional learning to districts and teachers to promote benchmarks-aligned high-quality instruction that builds a foundation for future learning and results in improved student learning outcomes.

Support educators in analyzing data to adjust instruction differentiate supports and provide timely corrective feedback.

Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

NOTE: This position is required to be in-person in Tallahassee FL.

Education/Experience

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree / 5 years

This position requires a Bachelors degree in education curriculum and instruction or related field and five years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree / 5 years

  • Bachelors degree in education curriculum and instruction or related field required; masters degree preferred.
  • Florida educator certification with demonstrated success in classroom instruction.
  • Minimum of five years of K-12 instructional coaching or leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Floridas Formula for Success state academic standards and student-centered instructional practices.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver high-quality professional learning.
  • Excellent collaboration communication and facilitation skills.

Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree.

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelors degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a masters degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree

Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
