Main Purpose of Job
Conducts occupational safety and health consultation visits at the entry level in the Division of Labor and Industry.
POSITION DUTIES
Participates in formal and on-the-job training programs related to safety and health consultation visits. Learns how to interpret complex technical standards policies and procedures necessary for enforcement of the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Law.
Under supervision observes and participates in routine health consultation visits in both private and public sector settings. Independently conducts two health consultation visits involving noise sampling; two visits involving air quality sampling; and two visits involving health program reviews including but not limited to bloodborne pathogens hazard communication permit-required confined spaces and respiratory protection.
Develops prepares and submits oral and/or written reports of consultation visit activity as required and requested.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Four years of experience inspecting researching andanalyzing chemical and physical workplace hazards affecting employee health.

Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelors degreefrom an accredited college or university in industrial hygiene physicalscience or life science which includes 12 credit hours in chemistry and 18additional credit hours in any combination of the following: chemistryphysics engineering health physics environmental health biostatisticsbiology physiology toxicology epidemiology or industrial hygiene for therequired experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.
Bachelors degree in Occupational Health Industrial Hygiene Environmental Health Safety Management or a related field.
Knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations standards and best practices.
Experience in industrial hygiene sampling including the collection and analysis of air noise and chemical exposure data with knowledge of OSHA/NIOSH sampling methods proper use and calibration of monitoring equipment and the ability to interpret and report results accurately.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employeesin this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
