Primary Duties & Responsibilities
In a new product development lab perform various electrical/optical tests on electro-optic components to ensure that the product meets specification. Test high power optical parts and present data to the design engineers. Perform the following tests: LIV optical images spectral data near/far field data temperature tests. Build and calibrate new test benches when new products arrive. Write test programs (using C# LabVIEW Python etc) to automate testing. Troubleshoot and repair any problems with test benches that occur in the NPI lab. Receive training from engineers and other technicians and be able to train others.
Education & Experience
2 year college degree (associate or equivalent)
5 years of experience
Skills
Knowledge in optics and electronics. Able to use computer programs (Thorlabs Avantes
Microsoft Excel JMP etc) to perform tests and to create reports. Familiarity with other optical test
equipment such as Agilent DCAs oscilloscopes optical spectrum analyzers parametric network analyzers optical attenuators optical power meters and current sources. Be able to solder components wire harnesses etc. Troubleshoot malfunctioning test equipment and entire test benches.
Able to multi-task and complete projects in a timely manner. Good communication skills to work closely with engineers and technicians. Be able to work from written and verbal instructions. Be able to collaborate in a profession and respectful manner with coworkers contractors etc.
