Description of role

TWI is offering an exciting opportunity for 5 Apprentice Laboratory Technicians to join a brand-new engineering apprenticeship programme at Granta Park Cambridge. This is a unique opportunity to work across multiple laboratory areas gaining hands-on experience in a wide range of technical disciplines while completing a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

This role is ideal for someone eager to learn develop practical skills and build a career in engineering.

We welcome applications from students who have not yet completed their GCSEs. Conditional offers will be made on the basis that applicants achieve five GCSEs (or equivalent) including English Maths and Sciences at Level 4/5 (Grade C) or above.

The Role

As an Apprentice Laboratory Technician you will:

  • Assist with the setup operation and maintenance of tools machinery and equipment
  • Comply with statutory regulations and organisation health and safety requirements including any environmental compliance procedures and systems to maintain a safe working environment
  • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions
  • Be trained to operate a variety of engineering machinery and equipment
  • Prepare materials and equipment for engineering processes providing technical support including communications software
  • Develop knowledge of industry standards and certification requirements
  • Work towards a recognised Level 2 apprenticeship qualification initially followed by a Level 3 apprenticeship combining practical training with study
  • Work as part of a team to deliver an exceptional service to our members and customers
  • Develop essential life skills that will equip you with the knowledge practical abilities and confidence to progress in both your career and person development
  • Be responsible for your own actions and for the quality and accuracy and timely delivery of the work you undertake

  • Demonstrate punctuality responsibility and accountability
  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English at Grade 4/5 (formally grade C) or above

Working hours:
