Goosmann Law Firm is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Estate & Business Succession Attorney to join our estate planning and corporate law practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in complex estate planning matters closely held business structures and succession planning for high-net-worth individuals and business owners.
This is a client-facing role that involves working closely with family-owned businesses executives and entrepreneurs to design sophisticated tax-efficient plans that preserve wealth across generations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on estate gift and generation-skipping transfer (GST) tax strategies
- Develop and implement comprehensive business succession plans for family-owned and closely held businesses
- Structure and draft estate planning documents including complex trusts (e.g. GRATs ILITs SLATs IDGTs)
- Coordinate with clients financial advisors accountants and other professionals to deliver integrated planning solutions
- Analyze and plan for liquidity needs and tax liabilities personally and related to business interests
- Assist with lifetime gifting strategies intra-family transfers entity restructuring and charitable planning
- Stay current on federal and state tax law developments impacting estate and succession planning
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required
- CAP designation a plus
- Active bar membership required in one but preferred in more of the following Nebraska Iowa and/or South Dakota.
- 510 years of experience in estate planning business succession planning or a related field
- Familiarity with business entity structures (LLCs S-corps partnerships) and ownership transfer mechanisms
- Excellent drafting analytical and communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships with high-net-worth clients and business owners
- Proven ability to manage complex planning projects independently or as part of a team
