The Dallas Morning Newsis looking for an enthusiastic journalist with a desire to learn to join our investigations team as a 2026 Ida B. Wells Investigative Reporting intern.

An investigative internship atThe Newsoffers the opportunity to work closely with a team of nationally award-winning investigative journalists who work hard have fun and support one another.

The right candidate will be a team player who is intellectually curious are you sure thats the best way to do that and strives to produce journalism that makes a difference.

Over the course of 12 weeks you will be expected to complete at least one solo investigative project developed in collaboration and with guidance from Senior Investigations Editor Alvie Lindsay. You will work in tandem with the other reporters on the investigations team as well as our data visual and audience journalists.

We expect this to be a fully immersive experience with an opportunity to learn from extremely talented journalists across our newsroom. Working closely in this environment will be essential to development. As such this is NOT a remote position.

Skills required for this position include:

  • Identifying potential stories

  • Effective communication about story development including sourcing framing tone and structure

  • Reporting skills including interviewing techniques document searches research and some data journalism skills

  • Ability to write with clarity and impact

  • Working collaboratively with other members of the investigations team as well as visual and audience journalists

  • Ability to work with urgency and on deadline; juggling multiple stories
