About the role:

The successful candidate will be hired as either a Hygienist or Lead Hygienist with the final title determined based on the individuals experience and qualifications.

Reporting to the Manager Safety and Health the Lead Hygienist/Hygienist is responsible for driving the continual improvement development and implementation of EVRs Occupational Hygiene Program as part of the ongoing commitment to Everyone Going Home Safe Every Day.

To be successful the ideal candidate is a collaborative and strategic professional who can translate complex occupational hygiene data into practical solutions build strong relationships across operations and regulatory bodies and mentor others while driving continuous improvement in occupational health programs.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and actively support EVRs HSEC & HR Management System by adhering to established health and safety programs and contributing to departmental safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts
  • Lead and advance EVRs and Elkviews occupational hygiene program by developing implementing and continuously improving systems that identify evaluate and control workplace health hazards
  • Design and oversee exposure monitoring and assessment programs to evaluate workplace risks and analyze occupational hygiene data to inform effective prevention and exposure reduction strategies
  • Provide expert technical guidance on occupational hygiene matters including exposure assessment regulatory compliance and emerging occupational health risks
  • Partner with operations leadership and corporate teams to integrate occupational health risk management into operational planning projects and sustainable business practices
  • Develop and deliver occupational health training and awareness initiatives to strengthen workforce knowledge and promote effective management of workplace health hazards
  • Lead and support key occupational health programs and initiatives including respiratory protection hearing conservation and other exposure reduction efforts
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including regulatory agencies unions consultants and operational leadership to support effective occupational health outcomes
  • Provide leadership and mentorship within the occupational hygiene function supporting team development coordinating technical resources and contributing to EVR regional and corporate health and hygiene initiatives

Requirements:

  • Degree in occupational or industrial hygiene or a combined with at least five years of mining or oil & gas experience is considered an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of occupational hygiene regulatory requirements established under the British Columbia Health Safety and Reclamation Code and the British Columbia Occupational health & Safety Regulation
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills are essential; must be able to work well in a team environment and mentor asset H&S team
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage time well to meet deadlines including superb organizational skills project management experience is an asset
  • Understanding of mining processes and activities and their potential to result in occupational exposures
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
$95000 - $118000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
