Job Summary

A vacancy has arisen for a Flt Lt WO or MAcr (preferred Flight Lieutenant) Any Profession - to serve as RAF Marham Station Engagements Officer at RAF Marham on FTRS (HC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of being not before 08 August 2026 (or later subject to candidate status).

Brief description of the role:

  • Coordinate the execution of the RAF Marham Engagement Strategy including reviewing and updating the plan annually in conjunction with the RAF Marham Station Commander and Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Be the first point of contact for correspondence and enquiries from the public to RAF Marham regarding community related requests or issues.
  • Assist in the co-ordination and facilitation of General Station visits to familiarise the public with the role of RAF Marham as a Main Operating Base in support of the aims of the RAF Marham Engagement Strategies.
  • Provide information and materials required by Station personnel for preparation of presentations for engagement events (Station Engagements Brief).
  • Maintain the existing engagement network and actively sustain positive relationships and effective communication with local government community groups charities schools veteran associations businesses etc to foster good relations and positively promote the RAF and RAF Marham by ensuring its role is fully understood by the local community.
  • Maintain relations with neighbouring military bases and establishments including US Visiting Forces counterparts Eastern Region bases Armed Forces Careers Offices Careers and Engagements Team etc.
  • Act as the Station Youth Engagement Team (YET) coordinator; encompassing activities by the STEM Team Cadet Team Jon Egging Trust AFCO and Schools ensuring that requests from youth organisations are scrutinised logged and fulfilled (if possible) where they meet with the aims of the Station Engagement Strategy. Provide information to the Community Development Officer (CDO) for the Youth Engagement Quarterly Report.
  • Attend local parish council meetings and other community forums as required/requested to ensure good relations between RAF Marham and the local community and provide opportunities for external stakeholders to discuss any issues. Send a bi-monthly community update to the 30 parish councils closest to RAF Marham.
  • Act as the main POC for local landowners with property bordering RAF Marham and ensure they are frequently engaged with and informed about base activity and positive 2-way communication is maintained.
  • Work with the Duty Ops Officer and MCO to investigate and respond to flying complaints including liaison with the complainant to foster positive relations in the community. Provide advance warning of night flying activities or unusual events to local parish councils and other influence groups in order to educate and inform the community and reduce flying complaints.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the list of landowners and non-MOD property owners within the Marham Public Information Zone as outlined by directions in the Marham Major Accident Plan (MAP) Part 1.
  • Assist as a volunteer member of the post-crash incident management team in support of the Media Comms Officer in the event of a major incident involving the Station its personnel or aircraft.
