What its like to be a Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
As a Med/Surg RN at Minden Medical Center you will play a crucial role in assessing implementing and evaluating care for a diverse patient population. Reporting directly to the Med/Surg Nurse Manager you will collaborate closely with fellow nursing staff ancillary services physicians patients and their families to ensure a high standard of care. This full-time position operates on a 36/48 rotation with night and day shifts available (7AM-7PM and 7PM to 7AM) offering a fast-paced yet compassionate environment on our 18-bed unit. Care for patients with conditions ranging from CHF and COPD to specialized cases in cardiology and oncology will enhance your clinical expertise. You will appreciate our strong team dynamic where the knowledge and empathy of our nurses foster a supportive atmosphere. We offer a tailored orientation and preceptorship program that nurses quickly acclimate and thrive within this dedicated team.
What matters most
To excel as a Med/Surg RN at Minden Medical Center you will need essential skills in clinical assessment and critical thinking to provide high-quality patient care. A current Louisiana RN licensure including multistate eligibility is mandatory along with AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. While one year of Med/Surg experience is preferred your ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment is vital. Strong interpersonal communication skills will enhance your collaboration with healthcare teams patients and families fostering a supportive atmosphere. Familiarity with electronic health records and other medical software will enable you to track patient data efficiently and streamline care processes.
Being self-directed and quality-focused will ensure that you adapt to the diverse needs of patients with various conditions from chronic illnesses to specialized treatments. Your capacity for teamwork and compassion will be key to your success in this rewarding role.
Requirement for this job are:
RN with current Louisiana RN licensure (including multistate) and AHA BLS required; one year Med/Surg experience preferred.
