Wilkes University invites applicants for an open Financial Literacy high school enrichment teaching position in the Upward Bound Program for the summer session. Upward Bound is a federally funded Trio Program which provides support to participants in their preparation for college and ultimately in their higher education pursuits.
The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the enrichment component of the program by covering financial literacy basics to a small group of high school-level students including but not limited to budgeting saving managing credit and understanding student loans. This course will help college-bound students learn how to make smart financial decisions such as creating a budget building credit and planning for college expenses. Emphasis will be placed on real-world financial skills with a focus on preparing students for financial independence in college and beyond. A Bachelors degree in Accounting Business Mathematics and/or a related field is required. Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred.
Please note that this is only a part-time temporary position with a competitive hourly wage. Dates run from June 22nd through July 31st and classes are held twice a week Mondays and Wednesdays (1:15 P.M. 2:30 P.M.).
