Job Summary:

The Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor (12MO) Tenure-Track. The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate expertise in data science analytics and big data computational ecosystems.
  • Operate effectively within data-intensive computing environments and possess a deep working knowledge of both Python and R for data analytics and big data interfacing.
  • Demonstrate a strong background in applied machine learning statistical modeling and data mining.
  • Teach both online and on-campus sections of core data science training courses as well as developing specialized emphasis areas or advanced courses
  • that align with the Schools strategic focus on population health
  • and community-engaged research.
  • Contribute to the Schools commitment to training the next generation of public
  • health leaders through excellence in research service and interdisciplinary teaching focused on improving health equity within urban and immigrant populations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal Degree (PhD MD ScD).
  • Ability to operate effectively within data-intensive computing environments and ecosystems with analytic expertise in omics data and bioinformatics and possess a deep working knowledge of machine learning statistical modeling and data mining.
  • Successful attainment of extramural funding and demonstrated research expertise evidenced by a substantial publication record in high quality journals.
