The Opportunity

The Director of Human Resources (HR) is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. Reporting to the Vice President People & Corporate Services this role oversees HR functions including talent acquisition HR systems strategy and optimization across enterprise platforms employee relations performance management compensation and benefits program development compliance and organizational development.

What youll do

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • In collaboration with the VP People & Corporate Services develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals to support growth and culture within the business.
  • Partner with executive leadership to drive organizational effectiveness workforce planning and leadership development.
  • Lead change management initiatives and support business transformation efforts.

Systems & Analytics

  • Lead the implementation continuous improvement and optimization of HRIS and ERP systems to align with organizational strategies.
  • Ensure data integrity security and governance across all HR systems.
  • Develop and maintain HR dashboards and reporting frameworks to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Partner with IT and finance teams to integrate HR systems with broader enterprise platforms.
  • Analyze workforce data (e.g. turnover engagement performance metrics) to identify trends and inform strategy.
  • Drive automation and process improvements through technology.

Talent Acquisition & Retention

  • Oversee recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Maintain organizational structures and job descriptions
  • Implement retention programs and succession planning strategies.

Employee Relations

  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations issues including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices.

Performance Management

  • Design and manage performance evaluation systems.
  • Support leadership in performance coaching and development.
  • Drive initiatives to improve employee engagement and productivity.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Oversee compensation structures salary benchmarking and incentive programs.
  • Manage benefits programs to remain competitive and cost-effective.
  • Ensure equity and compliance in pay practices.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations.
  • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures.
  • Mitigate organizational risk through proactive HR practices and standards and policy enforcement.

Organizational Development

  • Lead training and development initiatives.
  • Support leadership development and succession planning.
  • Promote diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

What youll need

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or related field
  • Experience working with HRIS and ERP systems (e.g. Dayforce ADP Workforce Now Oracle HCM Cloud) including implementation optimization and data analytics.
  • 8 years of progressive HR experience including leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proven experience in strategic HR leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
  • CPHR or equivalent considered an asset.
