Day Shift P&D Driver (Barrie Terminal)
The Day Shift P&D Driver is a safety-critical role responsible for the secure incident-free transport of freight within the local Manitoulin network. Operating out of the Barrie terminal this position requires a professional who treats every delivery and every pallet with a zero-incident mindset. You are the face of Manitoulin maintaining the integrity of our logistics through precision driving time-critical deliveries and efficient pickup execution.
Core Responsibilities
Time-Critical Delivery & Pickups: Execute a high-density daily route with a focus on meeting strict delivery windows. You are responsible for clearing your delivery manifest and ensuring all scheduled customer pickups are completed before returning to the terminal.
Defensive Driving & Urban Safety: Operate heavy-duty equipment (day-cabs/straight trucks) with a focus on defensive driving specifically in high-traffic urban areas tight loading docks and pedestrian-heavy environments.
Pre/Post-Trip Compliance: Conduct thorough Circle Checks and DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports). Any mechanical or safety deficiencies must be identified and reported immediately to ensure fleet roadworthiness.
Safe Freight Handling & Securement: Execute the loading and offloading of freight at various customer sites using liftgates forklifts and electric pallet jacks. You are responsible for ensuring proper weight distribution and load securement to prevent shifting during frequent stops.
MHE & Dock Safety: Maintain 100% compliance with warehouse and customer-site safety protocols including the use of PPE pedestrian awareness and safe operation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
Professional Representation: Act as the primary point of contact for our customers. Maintain professional communication and ensure all shipping documentation (BOLs PODs) is accurate and signed.
Hours of Service (HOS) Management: Diligently manage Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) to ensure full compliance with MTO regulations maintaining a high level of alertness throughout the day-shift rotation.
Working Conditions
Environment: Fast-paced local routing involving frequent entries/exits from the cab outdoor exposure and active customer dock environments.
Schedule: Standard Monday through Friday day-shift rotation (occasional Saturday requirements based on volume).
Accountability: High level of responsibility for maintaining the daily schedule protecting the equipment and providing top-tier service to the public.

Qualifications :
Technical Requirements & Qualifications
Licensing: Valid Class 1 (AZ) Drivers License with an acceptable Commercial Abstract and CVOR.
Safety Training: Previous certification in Forklift Operation and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) is highly preferred but not necessary as in house training will be provided.
Physical Readiness: Ability to safely perform manual tasks (lifting bending securing loads) and the mental stamina required for consistent overnight operations.
Ability to work as a part of a team in addition to independently.
