SIEL Human Solutions on behalf of our client is looking to hire a Full Time OR Part Time DVM (or 2) for our growing mixed animal rural practice that is determined to fulfill a career in a diverse caseload with all species. Opportunities exist to develop other specialties or individual interests and the duties of the associate can be adjusted according to their expertise.

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Our client has 15 years of experience serving the Esterhazy Sk community working with both small and large animals in every area of veterinarian medicine. We pride ourselves in mentorship and in taking a team approach to difficult cases. Our support team includes 4 RVTs 3 Vet Assistants 2 Customer Care Reps and kennel staff.

Our facility has much of the modern equipment is paperless and strives to maintain a high level of customer service while practicing quality medicine in a friendly small-town atmosphere. Esterhazy is a community of 3500 with access to surrounding lakes in the valley cross country ski trails cross fit multiple fitness centers and coffee shop next door snowshoeing and hiking. There are many equine opportunities for various disciplines.

WHAT YOULL BRING:

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine
  • Completion of national certification examinations or equivalent are required.
  • Provincial Licensing in Saskatchewan (Saskatchewan Veterinary Medical Association) is required or ability to obtain.
  • 3-5 years experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital.
  • Experience conducting veterinary research related to areas such as animal nutrition health care products development and disease prevention and control.
  • Experience enforcing government regulations in disease control and food production including animal or animal-based food inspection.

WHAT YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:

  • Perform the duties of a veterinarian which includes prevention diagnoses and treating diseases and disorders in animals and advise clients on the feeding hygiene housing and the general care of animals in an ethical and consistently professional manner in accordance with the provincial by laws.
  • Responsible for the performing of interventional surgeries (i.e. enterotomies gastrotomies splenectomy cystotomies mass removals and laceration repairs)
  • Performing routine physical examinations and vaccinations of all domestic species.
  • Performing canine/Feline/Rabbit castration and ovariohysterectomy.
  • Manage patient care to provide quality service for each individual patient with the understanding that other patients need to be seen therefore maintaining a smooth patient flow.
  • Inspire trust in the clients that the best recommendations are being made for their pets.
  • Effectively manage every animals medical needs always demonstrating concern compassion and gentleness toward the animal.
  • Fully educate the client including diagnosis treatment plan prognosis and available alternatives.
  • With assistance from the entire veterinary team ensure that the clients follow through on the treatment plan for their animals.
  • Responsible for supervision of Veterinary Assistants and RVTs.
  • Triaging of urgent vs. emergency cases and assisting in proper scheduling/referral of cases.
  • Managing chronic diseases (i.e. diabetes heart disease atopy/allergies)
  • Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals herds and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests.
  • Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication setting bones dressing wounds or performing surgery.
  • Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases.
  • Perform routine emergency and post-mortem examinations.
  • Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics dentistry and euthanasia.
  • Responsible for the overall operation of animal hospital and mobile services to farms and other remote locations.
