POSITION:SMSScience Fair Coordinator (Job # 3584)
LOCATION: Southern Middle School
JOB SUMMARY:The sponsor is responsible for working with the Secondary Science Supervisor and building principal to develop implement and evaluate their schools science fair. The employee will select the date for the school fair arrange the location awards judges and determine which projects advance to the county fair. The teacher will assemble the latest required forms explain their use and distribute them to the science teachers. The coordinator reviews all paperwork to ensure that each project entering the school fair has completed the necessary forms and is in compliance with all rules. The teacher also provides assistance at the county science fair.
REPORTS TO: School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated management leadership and human relations skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
- Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with the principal to establish guidelines for determining those students that are required or recommended to complete a science fair project.
- Establishes meeting dates to distribute and explain all forms and procedures to the other science teachers.
- Is responsible for reviewing determining eligibility organizing and maintaining all student forms.
- Forwards the completed paperwork for all eligible projects to the county science fair coordinator prior to the deadline for acceptance.
- Is responsible for assisting and working with all students who are selected to participate at the county fair.
- Coordinates with the principal and other teachers to schedule all related events to avoid conflicts with other school-based activities.
- Assists at the county science fair.
OTHER DUTIES:Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Athletic Director
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Position requires significant periods of standing and walking and is performed in a typical school environment
UNUSUAL DEMANDS:None
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.
FLSA STATUS:Exempt
EVALUATION:Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.
EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION:School Year 2025-2026
