Job Summary

Description:

The peer navigators together with the investigators and mobile adolescents and young people will co-develop strategies to assist the mobile youth in engaging with health care. The peer navigators will be working within specific areas to provide advice and encouragement to mobile adolescents and young people and also engage with mobile adolescents and young people and the wider project team on the development of interventions to support linkage to care.
Working collaboratively with other health care and wellness providers the Peer Navigator will provide direct health system navigation health advocacy education and linkage to specialized health social and emotional wellbeing and wellness resources related to health needs. They will work as the first line of contact with the participant through navigating their community and using the referral system to the relevant stakeholders. The peer navigator will work with all the young people aged 18-30 years. They will also be expected to work flexibly 24 hours a week

Overview of Duties:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Age 18-30 years
  • Must have moved to the case study location within 12 months ( Cato Manor)

Minimum Experience

  • Working in community services
  • Experience in data collection
  • Leadership skills
  • Previous work experience as Peer Navigator (added advantage)

Skills Required

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Accuracy and precision.
  • High computer literacy
  • Report writing
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
