We are looking for a Laboratory Manager (80-100%) reporting to the Senior Director Translational Research.
The laboratory manager will oversee all tasks related to supporting the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. She/He will establish the quality standards aimed at maintaining the performance of laboratory equipment in particular by organizing its maintenance and repair. She/He will ensure that lab consumables are available as required for lab operations. She/He will coordinate waste management and the cleaning of the laboratory and laboratory coats. She/He will be responsible for managing all preclinical samples. He/she will work closely with the biosafety officer to ensure a safe working environment.
Tasks
- Manage scientific and lab equipment maintenance and repair establish and maintain all laboratory records in accordance with specifications.
- Key contact person for all vendors and suppliers.
- Responsible for placing all orders for laboratory reagents monitoring laboratory reagent stocks gathering the teams requirements to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory.
- Responsible for receiving parcels and for arranging all shipments for and from third parties including import/export permits and all required documentation.
- Manage biological and chemical waste.
- In charge of organizing laboratory coat cleaning.
- Organization coordination and execution of lab support activities.
- Keeps supplies stocked by determining inventory level and ensure a laboratory operates smoothly.
- Train lab-based people on the correct use of equipment when necessary.
- Collaborate with the biosafety officer to manage safety documents ensure that all information is accessible to laboratory staff and guarantee a safe working environment for users.
- Handle security documents and ensure all information is available for the lab staff and keep lab environment safe for users.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree preferably in Life sciences medical laboratory or other relevant area.
- 3 years of experience in biotech/pharma as Lab Manager is mandatory.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all organisation levels.
- Flexible with exceptional multi-tasking skills and proactive behaviour.
- Project management skills including the ability to track and manage inventory.
- A team-player confident and a positive can-do attitude.
- Ability and drive to solve practical problems.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills in German and English is a must.
- Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required.
