About the client

Client guides supports and provides thought leadership to all group companies in embedding sustainability in their business strategies and demonstrating responsibility towards society and the environment. The Environment Services function has been driving emerging themes in the environmental space.

Major Responsibilities

Nature Strategy Development and Project Management:

Support the companies in implementing nature strategy roadmaps by providing advisory support including planning designing and developing recommendations for actions.

Conceptualize and steer the group-level marquee Nature-based Solutions and biodiversity conservation projects through effectively running the Project Management Office (PMO) and extensive liaising with group

companies and external partners.

Capability building and Thought leadership:

Design develop and impart training to build capability and capacity about Nature & Biodiversity.

Keep track of Indian and global developments on the subjects and generate timely high-quality and useful insights on the latest regulations technologies leading corporate practices and opportunities

Identify and participate in leading industry and civil society forums as well as advocacy and expert groups to represent the Groups views and seek engagement opportunities on the topic of Nature & Biodiversity.

Sustainability Reporting Support:

Measure progress against strategies objectives and performance targets under the pillar of Nature & Biodiversity including on group-level collaborative conservation

projects.

Support and improve the performance data capture process by leveraging IT skills and liaising with sustainability colleagues from various sister companies.

Create dashboards insights and reports for the group senior leadership by analysing the data; Make effective presentations at various sustainability governance forums within the Group.

Support external reporting of this data as appropriate.

Essential Attributes

Has the ability to observe document build analyse and improve groups sustainability practices:
This position requires strong problem-solving skills excellent interpersonal skills a high level of personal initiative and the ability to work well with multi-sectoral environment.
Strong understanding of environmental concepts with a specific focus on the theory and practice of emerging concepts in Nature & Biodiversity including but not limited to Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Science-based Targets for nature (SBTN) Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) etc.
Broad familiarity and interest in other environmental topics being led by the organization including decarbonization waste management resource circularity freshwater replenishment supply chain sustainability etc. Strong project management skills to guide and oversee high-profile nature / biodiversity conservation projects including the ability to manage conflicting stakeholder expectations identifying and working with external experts overcoming challenges in baselining/data availability budgeting and program reviews managing timelines etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
High level of proficiency in written and spoken English;
Proven track record of making effective presentations to senior leadership (including CEOs and CXOs) of leading companies.
Skilled in making conceptual slides in MS Powerpoint numerical data processing tools (like MS Excel) and report-writing.

Desired Attributes

15 years prior work experience in environmental sustainability space with a focus on nature & biodiversity.

Experience in sustainability strategy development and implementation for organizations business strategy with environment at the heart of decisionmaking.

Qualification

Masters degree in Engineering / Natural Sciences from premier institutes. Additional qualifications in forestry/ecology/wildlife conservation as well as business administration/management is desirable.
