Career Advisor I
Location:Fort Worth TX 76119 - Onsite
Schedule: Full-Time Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay Rate:$24.00 per hour
Employment Type: 3-Month Contract with Goal of Temp-to-Hire

Position Overview
The Career Advisor I (CA) plays a critical role in supporting workforce development initiatives by providing career counseling employment coaching and case management to program participants. This position works directly with individuals participating in TANF and SNAP workforce programs helping them identify career pathways improve job readiness skills and secure sustainable employment.
Career Advisors partner closely with internal teams community organizations training providers and employers to expand employment opportunities for participants and support the overall mission of the workforce development program.
Key Responsibilities
Career Counseling & Workforce Development
- Conduct comprehensive career assessments for job seekers including individuals with substantial barriers to employment to determine occupational interests aptitudes and training needs.
- Identify vocational skills employment history abilities and career goals to guide participants toward appropriate career pathways.
- Provide career exploration support using workforce tools such as aptitude assessments resume development interviewing techniques and career planning services.
- Educate participants on job search strategies industry trends and employment readiness skills.
- Provide relevant labor market information including employment opportunities qualification requirements and salary expectations across industries.
Case Management & Participant Support
- Maintain ongoing contact with participants through structured case management and career advising.
- Monitor participant progress to ensure successful completion of academic or occupational goals.
- Evaluate individual needs and connect participants to internal or external support services to overcome barriers to employment.
- Ensure case files and participant documentation meet all local state and federal program compliance requirements.
Workforce Program Administration
- Conduct program intake and determine eligibility for grant-funded workforce programs.
- Prepare and submit Individual Training Account (ITA) requests work-based training requests and supportive service documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide information regarding training programs educational vendors scholarships and financial assistance opportunities.
- Refer participants to occupational skills training apprenticeships work-based training programs and other workforce development opportunities.
Employment Placement Support
- Partner with internal Business Solutions teams to identify employment opportunities for program participants.
- Proactively screen and refer participants to job opportunities aligned with their skills and career goals.
- Assist job seekers with resume writing mock interviews and job search strategies designed to improve employment outcomes.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal staff community partners and employers.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve workforce services and better meet labor market demands.
- Enter case notes service codes and customer data into program management systems accurately and on time.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of workforce development programs economic development initiatives and case management practices.
- Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills when working with diverse populations.
- Ability to effectively manage complex or challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Strong analytical organizational and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and workforce management systems.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff leadership community partners and the public.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
- Previous workforce development career counseling case management or related experience strongly preferred.
- Valid drivers license with proof of insurance and a good driving record required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
