Job Summary

LVN/DSPIII

Marin Ventures is a community day program operating Weekdays between the hours of 7:00 am to 4:00 pm for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. A friendly and inviting place we provide a community for our participants to interact with others and engage in self-directed activities geared to their interests and abilities. We are known for providing care for medically fragile and in some cases older adults and for our art program.

The DSP III- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) works with co-workers the Program Director Program Coordinators and other Leadership team members to implement the vision and mission of Marin Ventures. The DSP III- LVN is responsible for engaging and supporting the program participants during classes and activities. All employees are responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for program participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DSP

  • Assists in monitoring of compliance with all applicable laws and regulations regarding services for adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Engages the participants by speaking to them in English (or the participants language).
  • Keeps environment safe and clean for all program activities both on- and off-site.
  • Assists participants with personal care and hygiene which includes changing adult clothing and disposable undergarments (briefs and diapers).
  • Provides support for participants with lunch and snacks. This can range from supervision of eating and drinking to G-tube feeding as per each ISP.
  • Supports maximum independence in all activities and engages in activities reflecting participant preferences and ISP objectives including community outings employment and independent living skills if they so desire.
  • Completes basic documentation: observation and seizure reports case notes data on participants goals and objectives van logs mileage/expense reports and administrative paperwork.
  • Shares observations regarding participant progress and concerns with Program Coordinators and other Leadership including: signs or symptoms of participant illness or medication side effects accidents and/injuries. Acts as a mandated reporter for suspected abuse and neglect.
  • Communicates with participants their families and residential providers to ensure their knowledge of offered remote services and to maintain meaningful contact.
  • Helps identify changing needs of participants and assists in writing appropriate goals for participants changing needs and desired outcomes.
  • Uses computer tablet or telephone-related technology as needed to support work activity.

LVN

  • Act as the first point of contact to address emergency medical issues such as a seizures injuries or diabetic emergencies occurring at program.
  • Assess and maintain skin health and prevent breakdown.
  • Perform transfers providing for wheelchair breaks as needed.
  • Perform routine nursing assessments and maintain accurate health records for all individuals as assigned.
  • Provide direct nursing care as needed such and ensure appropriate responses to medical events or emergencies. coordinating with physicians specialists and outside service providers to facilitate access to care and ensure continuity of support.
  • Ensures compliance with participants medication schedules. Notifies all staff of changes in medications given during the program day.
  • Organizing and implementing health related goals and needs for participants such as exercise schedules and pressure injury prevention routines.
  • Support program management regarding the health and well-being of participants under their care including or preparing information for or attending participant team meetings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Nursing Licensure: Active and unrestricted LVN license in the state of California.
  • Current CPR/FA/AED certification or ability to obtain certification. As well as the ability to satisfactorily complete other required trainings.
  • Must have current valid CA drivers license and clean DMV record.
  • Ability to pass a background check is required.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in a community or day program setting is preferred.

COMPENSATION

  • $30/hr
  • No nights no weekends
