Job Summary

Absolute Pets is looking for an HR Clerk to join their Human Resources team. The HR Clerk will provide administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department with a strong focus on retail recruitment onboarding reporting and general HR administration. The HR Clerk plays a key role in ensuring efficient HR processes and a positive employee experience across the retail teams.

The HR Clerk will report into the Senior HR Assistant.

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Draft and post job advertisements across relevant platforms
  • Screen CVs and shortlist suitable candidates
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews with Team Leaders and Area Managers
  • Conduct reference checks
  • Prepare offers of employment and employment contracts
  • Coordinate and conduct exit interviews and capture and report on exit trends

Uniforms

  • Manage uniform ordering and stock levels
  • Distribute uniforms to new employees within the required timeframe
  • Maintain and track uniform tickets and records
  • Liaise with suppliers where necessary

Payroll Support

  • Track and communicate all new hires transfers and terminations for payroll
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is accurate and submitted timeously

Reporting & Administration

  • Assist in compiling recruitment statistics and reports
  • Maintain accurate recruitment trackers and HR databases
  • Maintain employee files including ensuring all contracts licenses IDs and permits are up to date.
  • Ensure HR documentation is accurately filed and up to date
  • Assist with drafting HR letters and documentation
  • Respond to general HR queries from retail teams
  • Assist with ad hoc HR projects and tasks to support the department and company.

and requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • HR qualification (Diploma or Degree) or currently studying towards one (advantageous)
  • 12 years administrative experience (HR experience advantageous)
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
