WHO WE NEED

As theLeacrossSummer Intern Korean Art & Culture you will support the Department of Art & Culture in advancing research exhibition development andcollectionsinitiatives related to Korean art and material culture. Working closely with the Associate Curator of Korean Art & Culture and Collections staff you will contribute to research and collections work supporting upcoming exhibitions and updates to the Korea Gallery.

This summer internship offers hands-on experience in curatorial research object handlingcollectionsdocumentation and program development. You will gain practical exposure to museum workflows while contributing to exhibition planningcollectionsrehousing and public programming initiatives within ROMs Korean collections.


HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Assistwith curatorial research supporting exhibition development collection initiatives and new acquisitions related to Korean art and material culture.
  • Support the planning and coordination of Korea-focused programs including academic and public-facing initiatives.
  • Assistwith photographing cataloguinglabelling and rehousing objects from the Korean collectionsin accordance withcollectionscare standards.
  • Contribute to updating object lists and preparing collection records within The Museum System (TMS).
  • Support the processing of donation and collection documentation.
  • Collaborate with curatorial andcollectionsstaff onadditionalprojects and priority tasks asrequired.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Art History Museum Studies Korean Studies East Asian Studies or a related field.
  • Fluency in both Korean and English isrequired.
  • Knowledge of Korean art history or material culture supported by academic coursework or researchinterest.
  • Experience or familiarity with object handlingcollectionswork or photographing objects is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • This internship is funded through theLeacrossFoundation and is open to female-identifying undergraduate studentsin accordance withdonor funding criteria.

SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • START DATE: as early as May 19 2026
  • END DATE: as late as September 42026
  • OPEN DATE:March 18 2026
  • CLOSE DATE: April 10 2026
  • STATUS:Full-time Contract
  • EMPLOYEE GROUP:Non-Union
  • EXPECTED COMPENSATION:$18/hour paid on a bi-weekly basis.
  • SCHEDULE: 35 hours weekly
  • PROBATIONARY PERIOD:The internship period will serve as the evaluation period for this role.
