At Epworth Freemasons we are committed to delivering compassionate coordinated and evidencebased care and were seeking an experienced Breast Care Specialist Nurse to join our dedicated team.

As a casual Breast Care Specialist Nurse you will provide a specialist consultancy service to patients families and staff under the care of surgical and oncology VMOs at Epworth Freemasons.

The opportunity

This role focuses on the delivery of comprehensive pre and postoperative breast care patient education and counselling and the coordination of care across the treatment continuum. You will support patients psychological and physiological adjustment to diagnosis and treatment working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to optimise outcomes for each individual.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Clinical and Maternity Services you will act as a key clinical resource and trusted point of contact for patients and clinicians alike.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing specialised breast care support education and counselling to patients and families
  • Acting as a central point of contact within the multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Coordinating care across surgical oncology and allied health services
  • Delivering evidencebased patientcentred care aligned to NSQHS standards
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings and care planning
  • Providing expert clinical advice and leadership to nursing and allied health staff
  • Advocating for patients throughout their treatment and recovery journey
  • Contributing to service evaluation data collection and quality improvement initiatives

Located in East Melbourne close to public transport and the CBD Epworth Freemasons provides a range of world-class health services. As one of Victorias leading maternity hospitals Epworth Freemasons specialises in womens and mens health services including breast and gynaecological surgery endoscopy and urology. Epworth Freemasons also offers comprehensive cancer care and a full range of surgical services including robotic assisted surgery orthopaedics and ICU care.
Epworth Freemasons has recently upgraded and expanded its operating theatres and admissions facilities along with major refurbishments of patient rooms and building infrastructure.


Qualifications :

About you

You are a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse with a strong background in surgical and/or oncology nursing and a genuine commitment to supporting patients through complex and sensitive care journeys.

You bring excellent clinical judgement strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with patients families VMOs and multidisciplinary teams. You are organised empathetic and confident working autonomously within a specialist role.

You will bring:

  • Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA
  • Postgraduate qualification in surgical or oncology nursing (essential)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Breast Cancer Nursing or working towards (desirable)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in surgical or oncology nursing
  • Strong understanding of evidencebased breast care practice
  • Excellent communication education and counselling skills
  • Commitment to clinical governance quality improvement and patient safety

The annual salary range for full time Clinical Consultant (CCA1 - CCC2) AUD $116919 - $132295 super entitlements depending on registration type year level and position (prorated for part-time).
