Housing & Food Services (HFS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Food Service Worker 2 (NE S WFSE Campuswide) (Fixed Duration Appointment) to join their team.
Housing & Food Services supports over 10000 student residents and operates 40 dining locations on campus. With a team of over 1200 staff and students HFS is dedicated to enhancing student life through teamwork and excellent service.
POSITION PURPOSE
Employees in this classification perform one or more of the following advanced Food Service Worker duties:
Regularly assign instruct and check the work of others.
Independently operate a food service area separate from centralized dining areas.
Function as assistant to full-time cooks
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Lead or independently operate a standalone café or espresso stand.
Lead employees in food preparation serving and/or dishwashing.
Assign student hourly or Food Service Workers 1 to meet operation and service needs.
Ensure adequate supply of non-food and food supplies necessary for operation.
Place par orders based on established schedules and/or emergent needs.
Ensure that all food items are attractively displayed meet all Quality Assurance Standards and are properly identified and priced. Keep display cases full throughout the day.
Operate point of sale systems keying in sales taking payments and making change; account for receipts at the end of the work shift.
Ensure that security and cash handling requirements are met each day; follow up with staff and supervisor on discrepancies.
Receive ordered materials and stock shelves.
Refrigerate perishable foods and maintain proper storage of other foods and supplies; ensure that area is fully stocked.
Participate and train staff in receiving storing and rotating merchandise/stock in refrigerators freezers or storage rooms according to food handling guidelines and department procedures.
Ensure all visible surfaces are clean and orderly; keep all areas of the operation clear of all litter and debris.
Before completion of shift complete inventory product sheets for the next days operation.
May prepare reports as necessary.
Occasionally prepare and serve espresso for customers; train staff on equipment preparation and service.
Print worksheets from CBORD FSS system including order guides production sheets recipes and inventory tally sheets.
Use recipes and production sheets from CBORD FSS to execute food preparation. Provide direction to kitchen staff for following recipes and standard production methods identified in these worksheets.
Take inventory counts using tally sheets from CBORD FSS system.
May be responsible for performing data input into CBORD FSS system including orders and transfers. Submit completed worksheets to mangers office or office staff for entry into the CBORD FSS system.
Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes
Maintenance of a valid Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
Schedules may be changed with two weeks notice. These positions are nine-month cyclic position that will work full-time mid-September to mid-June. Additional work may be available in the summer based on business needs and seniority.
