General description of the function

The Transmission Business unit of Prysmian is at the forefront of innovation and adaptation to the market trend of the cable industry embracing emphasis on renewable energy generation. Our cable solutions are the backbone of the power grids paving the way for a more efficient interconnected and eco-conscious energy ecosystem.

Within the Transmission Business Unit as part of the Supply Chain organization Project Logistics the technical team of Logistics and Transport Specialists are the owner of the specification of hardware and logistic activities for the supply chain to enable a flawless high voltage cable installation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Project Logistics and Transport Specialist are:

  • Responsible for safe and effective equipment and procedures during cable transport
    • setting requirements and communicating about these internally and externally (towards subcontractors customers and authorities) for logistics activities
    • support for the design / criteria for logistics equipment (like drums beams riggings etc) and to maintain this data
    • verification of technical documents such as drawing lashing calculations
  • Translating the logistic concept of a project to technical requirements so that the project team can execute this at a later phase. This includes detailing:
    • road transport for heavy cargo
    • checking lashing and lifting concepts for road and sea transport.
    • loading strategies
    • route strategies and
    • evaluate route modification measures
  • Closely collaborate with (other parts of the) supply chain organization project management and other key functions to
    • Support the rest of the organization as the logistics technical team of Logistics and Transport Specialists
    • develop technical solutions and improvements e.g. drums
    • develop tailored route port and site reviews considering cargo details transport modes infrastructure and local and international standards laws and regulations
  • Reporting on project progress and subcontractor performance
  • Managing the interface with the customer regarding technical specifications of storage transport drum and other logistic topics

Qualifications and Professional Requirements

Candidates for this role should preferably have:

  • Successfully completed studies in Mechanical Engineering Logistics or Transport Engineering Transport and Roadtransit Management or similar.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in heavy- oversized multimodal transportation
  • Skilled to use modern CAD software
  • Proficient in German and English at C1 level or higher
  • Good MS Office skills MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Client oriented mindset focusing on aligning project goals with client needs and expectations
  • Proactive driven and creative mindset to find cost effective and safe solutions
  • Eager to learn and quick learning
  • Able to maintain a positive spirit during execution of demanding projects.
