Job Overview

Tekberry is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Design Drafter to support our client a global leader in precision motion control solutions across aerospace defense and industrial markets. This role will support the Space and Defense group contributing to the development of advanced mechanical systems and components.

This position plays a key role in translating engineering concepts into detailed drawings and 3D models ensuring accuracy manufacturability and compliance with design standards. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in mechanical drafting CAD systems and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software to support product design and manufacturing
Lead layout and drawing development ensuring proper fit form and function of components and assemblies
Collaborate with engineering manufacturing and program teams to define design requirements and constraints
Ensure drawings include accurate dimensions tolerances materials and fabrication instructions
Perform clearance checks and support design validation through modeling and visualization tools
Support proposal and bid efforts by generating layouts and assembly drawings in a timely manner
Organize and manage drawing packages ensuring completeness and readiness for release to production or customers
Review and check drawings for accuracy completeness and adherence to drafting standards
Provide technical guidance and oversight to other drafting personnel when applicable
Participate in project planning scheduling and status review meetings

Must-Have Qualifications

Associates degree in Mechanical Technology or related field
20 years of drafting/design experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of drafting standards GD&T and dimensioning techniques
Experience with mechanical design fabrication methods and machine shop practices
Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX and/or Teamcenter preferred)
Strong understanding of materials stress and thermal considerations
Ability to interpret and create detailed technical drawings and models
Strong organizational problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting aerospace defense or precision manufacturing environments
Familiarity with kinematic mechanisms and complex mechanical assemblies
Experience supporting engineering design and product development lifecycles
