Job Description and Responsibilities
A Senior Systems Engineer in Indianapolis typically supports engineering teams by managing program development from concept through verification and validation. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and integrating hardware and software systems on air sea or ground platforms.
- Leading requirements development system design reviews and test plan creation.
- Performing system integration test execution and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Creating trade studies and technical analyses to guide design decisions.
- Providing technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders across engineering management and customer organizations.
- Occasionally traveling to client sites for installations or troubleshooting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
- 5 years of experience in systems software or hardware engineering.
- Strong understanding of the System Engineering Lifecycle and related processes.
- Experience with hardware/software integration test procedure development and system verification.
- Proven leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge and practical experience in network design configuration and troubleshooting
- Experience and/or knowledge of Agile techniques (Scrum Kanban Scrumban SAFe etc.)
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
- Background working with DoD customers (Army Navy Air Force Marine Corps).
- Supplier management and subsystem/component oversight experience.
