Summary
As a member of the human resources team reporting to the human resources supervisor the occupational health nurse is responsible for managing employee health and well-being. Their primary responsibilities include ensuring the maintenance protection and promotion of the health of plant employees. He/she coordinates workers compensation and disability claims administers care and treatment for injuries and addresses various employee health-related issues.
Additionally in close collaboration with the Health and Safety Department he/she promotes employee health through various prevention campaigns and ensures compliance with corporate medical protocols.
Duties and Responsibility
Ensure the maintenance tracking processing and storage of medical records while respecting confidentiality and protecting personal information;
Coordinate the various stages of absence cases with the team;
Develop and maintain various analyses statistics and dashboards to track cases and trends;
Ensure the health office is stocked with supplies;
Approve and process health service invoices;
First Aid
Administer first aid for work-related and non-work-related injuries or illnesses and assist as needed in the plant during emergency response team interventions for first aid and when the emergency plan is activated;
Support employees facing health professional or other challenges by referring them to specialized resources or providing psychological support to those who request it;
Conduct and explain various medical tests (audiograms respiratory program fit tests etc.);
Monitor fit tests and audiograms for all employees and organize the annual calibration of the relevant equipment;
Prevention
Optimize the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and monitor and follow up on its implementation;
Actively participate in the prevention of workplace accidents and occupational illnesses and in the promotion of healthy lifestyles;
Plan and organize vaccination campaigns for the flu custom-molded earplugs etc.;
Point of contact for the supplier of prescription safety glasses (record keeping handling exceptions).
Education and Experience
Qualifications
Hold an associates degree in nursing or a bachelors degree in nursing;
Have relevant experience as a nurse in a factory industrial or manufacturing setting (a plus);
Have experience in a unionized environment and have dealt with one or more well-established union organizations (an asset);
Possess excellent writing and communication skills (oral and written) in French;
Demonstrate proficiency in using office technology tools (Outlook Excel Word OneNote);
Demonstrate initiative and good judgment;
Be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage priorities effectively;
Be available outside normal working hours during the factorys annual shutdown;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Required Qualities:
You are available to work 3 days a week on-site (with the possibility of full-time 5 days a week) at our Varennes plant;
You are organized thorough detail-oriented capable of making decisions and demonstrate autonomy in carrying out your responsibilities;
