Job Overview

The news team at Austin PBS is looking for an eager creative self-motivated intern to join our team. As an intern for the news department youll help support the weekly news program ongoing community-based journalism project Decibel and Austin InSight. Interns get real hands-on experience and are an integral part of our team. Youll assist with studio and field productions researching topical issues social media content creation all with the opportunity to work alongside a group of talented journalists and storytellers. You will be trained & mentored on the following job duties.

Role & Responsibilities

Assist with studio production and field productions
Pitch story ideas
Create new social media friendly content from existing packages
Pitch and coordinate studio and remote interviews
Staff remote shoots
Perform other duties as needed

Pay Rate: $20/hr

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate student must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship
Strongly prefer candidates majoring in journalism
Student must be available to commit to a minimum of 9 weeks for this internship
Internship will be hybrid
15-20 hour a week commitment
Pay rate is $20/ hour
