The Opportunity

This position works out of our Ottawa Ontario location in the Point of Care Diagnostics division.

As a Shift Engineer in the Wafer Fab Manufacturing Team you will contribute to the teams success by supporting manufacturing operations to ensure optimal throughput yield and quality of chips produced using wafer fabrication equipment and processes.

Shift: 4X4 days shift rotating four days on four days off from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm

Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas including Chemistry Electrolytes Hematology Blood Gases Coagulation Endocrinology Cardiac Markers Neurology and Informatics. As an Engineer Associate in the Product Engineering group your main responsibilities will include focusing on product yield and product related improvements.

What Youll Do

  • Monitoring of critical process parameters critical-to-quality attributes process and product yield
  • Development documentation and implementation of reaction schemes to manage equipment and process excursions and trends
  • Identification development and implementation of process capability improvements
  • Investigations into product and process problems including root cause analysis
  • Investigations into non-conformances and documentation of findings and Corrective/Preventative Actions in Quality Reports
  • Consistent application of Quality Systems requirements and procedures
  • Effective communication with operators equipment technologists group members of related areas and managers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering
  • Ability to design experiments analyze and interpret data and document conclusions; experience using statistical methods
  • Analytical skills creativity and innovative approach to problem solving
  • Ability to determine required analysis to make practical objective decisions about the best solutions to problems
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills; able to deal effectively with people on all organizational levels and work in a team environment across departments
  • Familiarity with GMP and LEAN Six Sigma manufacturing principles is an asset
  • Familiarity with any of the following is an asset: process engineering wafer fabrication equipment automated processing equipment dispense technology statistical process control ISO/FDA regulations risk management/FMEA methods root cause analysis (6Ms/ 5 Whys) machine vision and statistical software packages such as Minitab and SAS JMP
  • Enthusiasm and propensity to continuous learning and experimentation
  • Resourcefulness ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
