BASIC FUNCTION:

  • School Clerk Iand School Clerk II assumes primary responsibility for one or more clerical functions as assigned in an elementary or secondary school.

VACANCY / POSITION SPECIFICS:

  • Working Location:Various sites within the District
    • The District covers a large portion of San Diego County.Refer to theDistrict Area Map at thisLinkand make sure to identify any and all specific area(s) you are interested in working in.   • Salary
    • School Clerk I will be paid on the OTBS Salary Schedule. Salary Grade 026.
    • School Clerk II will be paid on the OTBS Salary Schedule. Salary Grade 030.

  • Positions 20 hours per week or greater qualify for District-paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents.
  • Vacancies thatrequirethe incumbent to be Bilingual will be considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • School ClerkI
    • Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to one year of recent full-time equivalent paid office-clerical experience. One school year (ten full-time equivalent months) is acceptable.
  • School Clerk II
    • Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to two years of recent full-time equivalent paid increasingly responsible office-clerical experience. Two school years (twenty full-time equivalent months) are acceptable.

NOTE: Your related education and experience must be clearly represented in the work history and education section of your application.

Licenses and Other Requirements:

  • School Clerk I -Typing/keyboarding certificate at a net corrected speed of 25 words per minute (*).
  • School Clerk II -Typing/keyboarding certificate at a net corrected speed of40 words per minute (*).

(*) NOTE: Classifications that requires that incumbents be skilled in typing/keyboarding at a designated minimum words per minute will require that the applicant certify in writing that they have such skills. Demonstrated proficiency will be expected during the probationary period for the class. A typing certificate is not required and a typing test will not be given.

Examination Process

The examination process includes an application screening and evaluation based on the applicants education work history and responses to theapplication questions. Onlyapplicantswhose application packet demonstrates a combined education and experience which meets the minimum requirements for the position will be considered qualified andadvance in the process.

Somepositions requireapplicants to pass additional components which may include one or more of the following: amultiple-choice oral written or performance exam specific to the position. NOTE: Most exams areconducted remotely utilizing an online testing platform. For these exams access to the internet and the use of a camera-ready desktop/laptop with a microphone is required to participate in these processes.
