About the Role
Flinders University has an opening for a Counsellor to provide support to students who are studying in rural South Australia. There are 2 roles available one based in Mount Gambier and the other at Renmark where you will also be a point of contact for staff who are supporting students.
The Counsellor will provide a first point of contact and professional counselling services for students experiencing issues that are impacting on their wellbeing including academic personal or mental health issues. This includes intake and assessment crisis intervention and brief solution-focused interventions.
In this role you will also be required to:
Provide case management services to students experiencing multiple and complex issues that impact on their wellbeing.
Promote student wellbeing through the development and delivery of a range of activities and programs such as group and training programs.
Provide training and education to University staff regarding student wellbeing and supporting students mental health.

About You
You are an experienced Counsellor providing services to a diverse client group with an understanding of the higher education sector and factors that impact student wellbeing.
You will be an excellent communicator with highly developed interpersonal skills enabling you to liaise with students colleagues and stakeholders.
Please note to be successful in this role you must hold Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychological Board of Australia or be eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and postgraduate experience.
