Litigation Paralegal

About the Role:

A nationally recognized law firm based in Washington DC is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join its legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized and motivated individual interested in gaining hands-on litigation experience while supporting attorneys on complex and meaningful legal matters.

In this role you will work closely with attorneys and other paralegals to support cases through every stage of litigation-from early investigation and case preparation to trial support and appeals. The position offers the opportunity to gain practical legal experience develop litigation skills and contribute to impactful legal work that supports employees labor organizations and nonprofit institutions.

This role is ideal for recent graduates considering law school in the future or individuals who are interested in building a long-term career in the paralegal profession.

Following a probationary period the position offers a hybrid work schedule with up to two days per week working remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

The Litigation Paralegal will provide comprehensive support to attorneys across all stages of litigation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing case files calendars and critical deadlines.
  • Preparing legal documents for filing including cite-checking Bluebooking proofreading formatting and organizing filings for electronic and paper submission.
  • Reviewing and understanding applicable local court rules judge-specific rules and jurisdictional procedures.
  • Assisting with deposition preparation by gathering evidence and organizing materials.
  • Coordinating logistics for depositions and other case-related proceedings.
  • Preparing witness files exhibits notices subpoenas notebooks and case summaries.
  • Taking notes during proceedings and maintaining accurate case documentation.
  • Conducting factual research and assisting with analytical legal support tasks.
  • Supporting attorneys with trial preparation and providing in-court assistance during trials when required.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience conducting factual research using online and traditional research tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Analytical thinking and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Initiative to anticipate attorney and client needs and provide proactive support.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues attorneys clients and vendors.

Compensation and Work Structure:

Salary: $54000 $65000 annually depending on skills and experience.

Additional details:

  • Hybrid work schedule available after probationary period (up to two remote workdays per week).
  • Position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
