Overview: | The Department of Visual and Performing Arts in the College of Arts & Sciences at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a dynamic and student-centered Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor in Theater. Responsibilities: | - Teach courses that support the Theater program including introductory courses that contribute to the Theater Minor support student theater groups and fulfill the University Curriculum Fine Arts requirement.
- The normal teaching load for teaching faculty is four courses (12 credits) per semester. The successful candidate may receive up to two course releases per semester (reducing the teaching load to two courses or 6 credits per semester) to support additional responsibilities such as:
- Recruit mentor and supervise student designers across scenic lighting costume sound and props
- Serve as production manager for all mainstage productions
- Collaborate with the Director of Theater Productions and Programming in managing budgets and purchasing for all design areas
- Lead the technical execution of productions including building painting and striking sets; hanging focusing and striking lighting plots; and facilitating sound load-ins and strikes while adhering to all shop and production safety standards
- Establish implement and oversee safety protocols and best practices for all production activitiesincluding scenery construction installation rehearsals and performancesworking collaboratively with faculty directors and guest designers to ensure safe and effective execution.
- Participate in all technical rehearsals
- Supervise production elements for student-run theater non-theater performances (e.g. concerts dance recitals guest speakers) and outside rentals in the Theatre Arts Center
- Hold regular office hours for students
- Guide advise and mentor students academically and professionally
- Engage in service to support the program departmentcollegeand the university which includes attendingdepartmentand collegemeetings and other universityeventsasrequired
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts in consultation with the Director of Theater Productions and Programming and the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences

Education Requirements: | - Masters degree in an appropriate field of study. Candidates with a terminal degree in the field (including an MFA) may be appointed at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor while candidates with a Masters degree may be appointed at the rank of Instructor.

- Professional experience and/or graduate-level training in theater design production management and technical direction
- Proven commitment to collegiality and the ability to work effectively with students faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications - ETCP Theatre Rigging certification or equivalent professional rigging experience with a demonstrated record of safe rigging practices.
