POSITION TITLE: FLEET SERVICE FOREMAN
POSITION ID NUMBER:

REPORTS TO: Operations Superintendent
BASE PAY RATE: $31.07 PER HOUR / $64625.60 PER YEAR
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
JOB SUMMARY: Manages maintains and operates Okaloosa Gas Districts in-house Fleet Maintenance section.
Incumbents in this position will be held to the Districts Gold Standard for Customer Service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees all facets of the daily operations of Fleet Maintenance ensuring that District owned vehicles and support equipment are properly serviced and maintained.
- Performs major vehicle and support equipment repairs using diagnostic procedures to include computer analyzers to detect faults troubleshoots and analyzes performance of assigned equipment.
- Provides support for the Shop/Fleet Mechanic including work allocation training and problem resolution; evaluates performance.
- Observes quantifies and reports condition of the District fleet makes and justifies capital replacement recommendations.
- Requisitions automotive and support equipment parts from local vendors and manages the on-hand automotive parts and consumable inventory including purchasing distribution and accounting functions.
- Participates in the development of short-and long-range planning; develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
- Manages material safety and waste-disposal as outlined in the District Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) Manual.
- Must be able to safely and responsibly operate automotive vehicle and support equipment assigned. Must maintain assigned vehicles through appropriate operator maintenance.
- Maintains tools and equipment in prescribed manner using guidance from the ES&H Manual and specific repair manuals.
- Position requires incumbent to respond to accidents and/or breakdowns in the field before during and after regular work hours as required.
- Assesses vehicles and equipment for safety cleanliness and investigates negligence and equipment abuse.
- Researches and evaluates alternative methods and alternative software for use to improve efficiency and tracking methods.
- Learns and applies new technology in advanced diagnostics and repairs.
- Other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 10 years of experience or
- Associates Degree plus five to nine years of experience or
- Bachelors Degree plus two to five years of experience or
- Masters Degree plus zero to two years of experience.
- Associates Degree and Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification desired.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:
- Must have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse environment.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Assists in Developing Planning and Implementing short- and long-range goals to include capital equipment replacement planning.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and digital repair manuals for troubleshooting purposes
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must possess and maintain valid Florida drivers license to include a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) along with sustaining a driving record satisfactory to the District and its insurers.
- Experience in the diagnosis and repair of vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications to include Microsoft Office Products (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).
- Ability to proactively research alternative methods including software to improve efficiencies.
- Knowledge of federal state and local codes and ordinances pertinent to automotive and maintenance area.
- Expertise in using shop tools and equipment safely.
- Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
OTHER FACTORS:
- Must be appropriately dressed in a clean and neat District authorized uniform during work hours.
- Regular attendance is essential.
- May be required to work other than normal work schedule.
- May be required to work overtime with little notice.
- Physical Effort: Requires bending stooping crawling climbing and heavy to moderate lifting.
- Working Conditions and Hazards: Intense working conditions: restricted movement dirty environment or contamination intense noise hazardous materials; lifts or carries heavy objects. Works inside and outside. Exposed to rain and seasonal weather extremes. May be exposed to fires toxic fumes and electric shocks.
- DRUG TESTING FOR ILLEGAL DRUGS: Employees in this classification will be subject to undergo drug testing for illegal drugs in accordance with DOT Pipeline Safety Regulations Code of Federal Regulation Title 40 (49 CFR) Part 199 and the requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
