Job Summary
- The Unapplied Cash Research Specialist is responsible for researching and locating incoming payments that are in the companys bank account but not applied to any outstanding patient invoices. The Unapplied Cash Research Specialist may be assigned between 13-14 facilities/clients that will be responsible for locating the corresponding EOBs to unapplied checks. They will be responsible for calling insurances and/or utilizing insurance web portals to obtain the EOBs. An Unapplied Cash Research Specialist must comply with applicable laws regarding billing standards and be able to operate in a team-oriented environment that strives to provide superior service to Ventra Health clients throughout the country.
Essential Functions and Tasks
- Contact Insurance companies to have the EOB requested via fax or mail.
- Navigate websites to obtain EOBs.
- Create batches to transfer unposted payments to correct invoices and/or reverse duplicate payments.
- Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) remittance codes and apply correct denial codes if applicable.
- Balance and close payment batches timely.
- Identify payor trends in Unapplied and report findings to manager to communicate to respective department.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience posting insurance payments in a healthcare setting.
- Two (2) years of experience reading insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of insurance payer types.
- Knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements.
- Strong balancing and reconciliation skills.
- Strong 10 Key calculator skills.
- Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Strong time management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to read understand and apply state/federal laws regulations and policies.
- Ability to remain flexible and work within a collaborative and fast paced environment.
- Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a tactful mature and professional manner.
Compensation
- Base Compensation will be based on various factors unique to each candidate including geographic location skill set experience qualifications and other job-related reasons.
- This position is also eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus in accordance with company policies.
