Under direct supervision the Energy Coordinator shall be responsible for the implementation of an energy conservation program creating technical assistance programming cost avoidance measures and promote tribal-wide communication by providing support and guidance as directed. The Energy Coordinator will assist with membership support services in regards to promotion and increased access to energy efficiency and emissions reduction services education and Duties and ResponsibilitiesSustainability & Renewable EnergyAssist tribal administration to see through Climate Emergency goal of transitioning to non-fossil fuel GSA fleet Research identify and implement solar energy where feasible including but not limited to standard rooftop community solar and floating systemsWorks with other departments such as Housing to develop technical assistance programs to guide property owners and developers through code and energy efficiency standards. Work with the Grants Department to identify and apply for sustainability climate resilience and energy focused grantsRecommend sound policies directed toward utilities conservation and sustainability to Tribal record keeping systems in order to document and track utility consumption and costs to monitor program and implement a building energy conservation program to establish energy management plans perform energy audits train staff in energy management best practices and implement cost effective energy efficiency projects in tribally owned facilities. Create a green building strategy for tribally owned buildings and entities including emissions reducing and energy saving activities related to lighting HVAC weatherization etc. Support departments to purchase electric or renewable energy options. Collaborate with vendors community agencies and institutions such as our utility providers to enhance services and promote waste reduction other duties as ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory duties. This position serves as a resource to tribal facilities departments and the Sustainability Committee. Qualifications and RequirementsTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Demonstrated experience in sustainability environmental or other related field. Comprehensive research and analytical skills; ability to capture information quickly and to synthesize it into measurable information required. Experience in Tribal sustainability work is also preferred. Experience and knowledge in the use of word processing and spreadsheets (i.e. Microsoft Word for Windows Excel Access).Other Knowledge RequiredCurrent local state and federal energy policies programs and environmental and sustainability and techniques of research statistical analysis and report space Conservation including agriculture and forestry processes and and practices of public administration organization personnel management and modernsupervisory Skills and AbilitiesUse of independent judgment and effective decision-making in the application of a wide variety of lawspolicies and procedures and in effective clearly and effectively orally and in writing to internal staff and external work setting priorities meeting critical deadlines and following up on assignments withminimum taking steps to build cohesive effective and results-orientated and objective building leadership and SkillsAbility to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
