QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Michigan Teaching certificate.
- K-12 ESL endorsement or K-12 Bilingual endorsement.
- Thorough knowledge of assessment and instruction for MLL students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- K-12 ESL teaching experience
- Experience administering the WIDA ACCESS and W-APT Screener
- Knowledge of WIDA Standards and Proficiency Levels
- Experience in differentiating instruction for MLLs in General Education content classrooms
- General education-MLLteacher collaboration
- Experience teaching students with interrupted schooling
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans organizes and provides instruction in English in the Core Curriculum Content Standards.
- Develops and delivers lesson plans utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies addressing all aspects of communication that develop each students ability to read write speak and listen in content areas at levels that ensure learners meet or exceed learning targets and allow multilingual learners to meaningfully access the districts instructional program.
- Administers academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students progress in meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition. Maintains complete and accurate records of students progress and evidence of growth and progress.
- Develop individualized student language acquisition plans according to state guidance.
- Provides a nurturing supportive and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourages student responsibility enhances motivation and incorporates challenging instructional strategies.
- Facilitates effective home-school communication.
- Works cooperatively with other teachers paraeducators parents and administrators.
- Attend professional development sessions.
- Understand and comply with local and state policies rules and regulations regarding the English learners.
- Other duties as assigned.
