Job Description: Civil Engineer
Reporting: Technical Manager


TASKS ACTIVITIES RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform field and/or laboratory testing observation and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils aggregates concrete asphalt and steel).
  • Carry out General and Principal Inspections for trunk road bridges (comprising steel concrete and masonry) retaining walls and high mast lights.
  • Perform inspection on projects requiring expertise and knowledge in multiple areas of construction inspection.
  • Has experience and proficiency in multiple areas of field testing and inspection and or laboratory testing.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
  • To perform assessments and provide advice for service delivery within agreed parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures accreditation schemes legislation and industry standards.
  • To give technical guidance to other employees as appropriate and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
  • Follow up on resolution of non-compliance reports (NCRs).
  • May assist Project Manager in development of scope for testing and inspection services.
  • Maintains equipment operation and calibration.
  • Performs advanced fieldwork and assists with project management.
  • Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times robustly implementing health and safety rules instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health.
  • Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO) accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.
  • Follow up on resolution of non-compliance reports (NCRs)


CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Civil construction or structure background university degree or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience working as a Field Inspector
  • Knowledge in one of the fields (construction mechanical structural/civil electrical and architectural) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials testing.
  • Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.

TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

  • Good command in office software (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint )
  • Fluent in reading writing & speaking English is preferred
  • Good command in office software (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint )
  • Can work independently under pressure
  • Can arrange to travel for inspection jobs
  • Strong leadership skills able to lead and manage a team
