Job Summary

Level Two: Under minimal supervision level two maintenance electrician monitor and operate a wide range of electrical controlled equipment such as furnaces presses and machining equipment. Level two electrician understand concepts of analog signals for PLC control systems and perform basic troubleshooting tasks demonstrating more advanced knowledge of electrical controls for equipment such as hydraulic presses hydraulic power units and furnace control systems. 2-5 YOE

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Layout install and repair and maintain a wide variety of complex electrical equipment and wiring used in various plant departments power house and offices such as motors switchboards lighting and power circuits starters elevators cranes trucks and transformers.
  • Disassemble motors; clean repair replace or adjust brushes and holders slip ring commutators sleeve and ball bearings undercut mica between commutator bars and reassemble.
  • Make connections for proper field forward and reverse rotation motors series with DC motors and synchronize squirrel-cage and induction AC small motors lighting fixtures; repair or replace brushes defective light switches; fans solder connections polish armature shafts and other related operations.
  • Install and wire motors for various machine tools such as engine lathes turret lathes automatic screw machines milling machines and drill presses.
  • Detect faulty operation or defective material diagnose and remedy trouble. Service and replace amplifiers.
  • Investigate reason for power loss at substation when breakers kick-out.
  • Tear down ordinary units determine extent of troubles repair or replace defective parts or wiring and reassemble.

Required Skills:

  • The ability to read and write English.
  • Advanced communications such as training other employees posting preparing interpreting using and checking reports records and comparable data
  • Basic shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings specifciations charts and tables
  • Use of precision measuring instruments (e.g. comparator contour gages inspection laser layout fistures layout gages ohm meter optical comparator oscilloscope profilometer roundness gages super-micrometer torque transducer)
  • Uses considerable judgement to plan or perform unusual or difficult work when only general methods and procedures are available
  • Coordinate a high degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention
  • Uses judgement to plan or perform work within limitations of standard methods and procedures

Required Experience:

  • Typically 1-2

Level of Education:

  • GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.

Working Conditions:

  • Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
  • Constant exposure to moderate noise
  • Working conditions may include small spaces dust fumes odors hot / cold temperatures inside / outside noise vibration standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to work any shift including overtime weekends and holidays if scheduled.
