Tenants Queensland is seeking a TQ QSTARS Advice Worker to join its Sunshine Coast office in Maroochydore. This is a full-time opportunity for someone who is passionate about social justice housing stability and supporting people through complex tenancy challenges.
This role is dedicated to delivering high-quality advice information and case work to residential renters. You will support people to better understand their rights work through tenancy issues build confidence in navigating systems and access the services they need to move forward.

Tenants Queensland has represented the interests of Queensland renters since 1986. The organisation provides specialist tenancy advice advocates on behalf of renters and works to improve residential tenancy law and housing outcomes across the state.
Through the QSTARS program Tenants Queensland supports eligible renters with information advice advocacy and referral pathways designed to improve housing security and strengthen peoples ability to resolve tenancy issues.
As the TQ QSTARS Advice Worker you will initially provide intake support and after training deliver information advice and guidance in relation to tenancy matters under the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008. You will work with clients one-on-one help them understand their options support them through legal and practical pathways and advocate where required.
This role suits someone who can combine compassion with professionalism and who can work effectively with clients experiencing stress vulnerability or housing insecurity.
In this role you will:
provide intake tenancy information advice and guidance to eligible renters
conduct case interviews by phone face-to-face and through digital platforms
support clients to develop plans to address tenancy problems
assist renters to communicate effectively with lessors and real estate agents
help clients understand and complete forms and paperwork
guide renters through notices dispute resolution processes and QCAT pathways
advocate on behalf of clients where needed particularly where capacity is limited
refer clients to other community and support services
work collaboratively with QSTARS team members and partner agencies
contribute to identifying service issues and trends
maintain accurate records and follow risk management and service standards
To succeed in this role you will bring:

the ability to manage a high volume of requests including clients who may be distressed or vulnerable
strong case management capability and sound interpersonal judgement
confidence using computer systems and client information platforms
the ability to engage respectfully with people from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
highly developed verbal and written communication skills
understanding of or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of:
Queensland residential tenancy laws
housing issues
qualifications in social work law or a related field
previous experience working in the community services sector
Queensland driver licence
ability to travel if needed
