Job Summary

We are now taking applications/resumes for EXPERIENCED Ship Fitters for the Pierre Part LA and surrounding area. Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:

MUST have experience with SHIP FITTING
MUST have OSHA
Experience with welding is preferred but not necessary
- Must be able to pass 3G & 4G test
Required Skills:
- Must be able to cut & wash with torch efficiently
- Excellent math skills with ability to efficiently read a tape measure
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrate strong work ethic
- Demonstrate consistency in quality of work
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ideal candidate will be layingout and fabricatemetal structural parts such as plates bulkheads and frames and braces them inpositionwithin hull ofshipfor riveting or welding:
- Ideal candidate will be layingoutpositionof parts on metal working from blueprints/templates and using scribe and/or hand tools.
- Locates and marks reference lines such as center buttock and frame lines.
- Positions parts in hull of ship assisted by RIGGER.
- Aligns parts in relation to each other using jacks turnbuckles clips wedges and mauls.
- Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding or riveting.
- Installs packing gaskets liners and structural accessories and members such as doors hatches brackets and clips.
- May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of nonstandard parts.
- May tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.
- May roll bend flange cut and shape plates beams and other heavy metal parts using shop machinery such as plate rolls presses bending brakes and joggle machines.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
- Must be able to stand bend stoop squat or kneel regularly as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks.
- Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
- Ability to work in cramped and/or confined spaces when required
- Ability to work in an environments with exposures to dust dirt and various other debris metal and paint fumes gases
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to high precarious places and outside weather conditions
- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
Must be able to provide own PPE (hard hat steel toes safety glasses gloves.)
MUST be able to DISA Hair Folicle & background check
MUST have reliable transportation
Pay:
- $TBD (Based on Experience)
- Weekly Pay
- Pay Schedule: Monday - Sunday
Schedule:
- 10-12 Hour Days
- Monday - Friday
- Weekends (as needed)
Duration of Job:Approximately 1 month but would possibility of being placed in other projects based on job performance
