Medical Records Clerk
Location: Naval Health Clinic Hawaii Makalapa
Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizen
Employment Type: Contract
Position Summary
The Medical Records Clerk supports the management organization and maintenance of patient medical records in accordance with federal DoD and clinic-specific directives. This position ensures accurate documentation proper filing and adherence to regulatory standards to support high-quality patient care and clinic readiness.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to read write speak and understand English fluently
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to stand sit or walk for extended periods
Certifications / Licensure / Board Certifications
- None required beyond Basic Life Support if applicable
Citizenship
Key Responsibilities
Medical Records Maintenance
- Initiate maintain and update medical records in accordance with established directives and regulatory requirements.
- File military medical forms and documentation into official patient records accurately and promptly.
- Search for missing records or paperwork; request additional documentation related to patient treatment as needed.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Prepare reports related to medical records statistics when required.
- Participate in facility records reviews as part of quality assurance and accreditation standards.
- Retire medical records following prescribed regulatory guidelines.
Support & Communication
- Collaborate with clinic staff to ensure efficient documentation flow and timely updates.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and DoD privacy standards at all times.
Preferred Skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain strict accuracy
- Experience in a medical or military healthcare environment (preferred)
