ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Yard Driver:
Responsible to maintain a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing the customer for accounting for records involving trailer numbers and position of function and interact on a daily basis with warehouse supervisors and comply with warehouse safety communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with operations and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional maneuver trucks into loading and unloading position following signal from loading crew as needed. Also place safety wheel chocks in front of wheel/tire to prevent the trailer from rolling. If pup trailer movement is involved; extra care must be taken on the placement of the trailer jack stand (when at dock jack stand must be on the ground and in a locked position). If there is not a jack stand installed on the trailer the customer must be use of Airline/Electrical hookup/and Backing procedure is a all company policies guidelines and quality other job-related duties as a daily basis inspect and perform minor maintenance on the in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard
Receiving/Put-Away:Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Input data accurately into stack and store product in appropriate an organized work area. Order Picking:Pull and prepare for shipment ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded and picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service freight for operations accurately and in a timely manner as required. Quality:Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of quality variances. Delivery:Efficiently moves product form staging and/or storage to production lines and/or staging documentation must accompany freight.Inventory:Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation. Safety Housekeeping and Compliance:Maintain a clean neat orderly work area and assist in security of the warehouseWill comply with all Standard Operating Procedures corporate and site-specific policies safety rules and OSHA/ MSDS in safety meetings. Equipment Operation:Load unload move stack and stage product and materials using a forklift clamp truck drum attachment or other power equipment. Maintain the facilitys equipment and materials in a neat clean and orderly a daily basis inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work must maintain an active forklift certification. Maintenance:Perform or assist in building grounds and equipment maintenance as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES
Change fuel tanks on forklifts as needed: participate in physical inventories; perform labeling sorting wrapping packing and repacking as neededRepair pallets when necessary trailers and truck bays as requested. Help maintain the facility to provide a clean safe work other duties as overtime as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary.
Qualifications & Work Experience
- CDL A License Required
- Hazmat endorsement (within 90 days of hire)
- A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years. 3 years CDL A driving experience preferred.
- Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements FMCSR 391.41.
- Experience in load securement route planning and navigating various road conditions.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care.
- Detail-oriented / mindset required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of a truck driver the employee is required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle. The employee must use hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel controls GPS devices and other on-board equipment. The role also requires the ability to reach with hands and arms climb in and out of the cab and trailer and occasionally stoop kneel bend or crouch during inspections coupling/uncoupling or loading/unloading activities. The employee must be able to communicate effectively using verbal and hearing skills often via CB radio or mobile devices. Vision requirements include the ability to see at a distance for safe driving as well as close vision for reading documents using electronic logs and performing inspections.
Physically able with or without accommodation to:
- Frequently carry push or pull freight weighing 1-125 pounds
- Lifts up to 50 pounds
- Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level
- Shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals not applicable on all trucks
- Frequently squat or crouch to handle and position freight
- Climb in and out of over-the-road tractor 4 to 6 feet 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending twisting climbing squatting crouching and balancing.
- Conduct pre-trip inspection for a tractor and trailer.
- Be able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations manually lower/raise landing gear operate the fifth wheel release level lock/release pintle-hooks fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels perform preventative maintenance.
- Must be able to spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood metal and concrete. Surface may sometimes be slippery or wet.
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck.
