JOB TITLE: One (1) Summer Intern

SUMMARY:
The Mayors Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City governments chief financial agency. OMBs staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayors expense and capital budgets which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
The Miscellaneous Revenue Unit forecasts and monitors all sources of revenue received by more than 60 City agencies with the exception of taxes and grants.
There are three major groupings of Miscellaneous Revenue: Cost-based Charges (Licenses Permits and Charges for Services); Water and Sewer revenues; and Other Income (Interest Income Franchises Rental Income Fines and Miscellaneous). The Unit also initiates and manages many projects designed to increase revenue and improve revenue-related operations.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Data Visualization: The primary focus of the intern will be supporting analysts with data visualization and summary. Working closely with the analysts the intern will apply technical and analytical skills to help develop automated practical visualizations that summarize large incoming datasets to support ongoing analysis.
Fee Database Development: Most fees charged by the City are backed by a user fee analysis approved by OMB. The intern will be responsible for upkeeping the centralized database which involves understanding key details such as legislative authority implementation dates and the agencies responsible for administering each fee.
Report Management & Revenue Monitoring: In addition to the above projects the intern will gain hands-on experience with core analyst responsibilities. This will include updating regular reports tracking revenue streams and assisting with data analysis to support decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should have:
-Experience and familiarity with exploratory analytic and visualization tools for large datasets.
-Proficiency in Excel or other data management tools is required for organizing and analyzing data efficiently; PowerBI experience is a plus.
-Strong research and analytical skills to gather and synthesize information from various sources including legislative documents and agency reports.
-Attention to detail is essential to ensure accuracy in compiling fee data and monitoring revenue streams.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills are also important for documenting findings clearly and effectively.
-Additionally the intern should be proactive organized and able to manage multiple tasks independently while seeking guidance when necessary. Prior experience with government finance policy research or data analysis is a plus but not required.
REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Candidates should have strong analytical quantitative research and communication skills. Additionally candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.
Compensation/Duration:
Summer Graduate Intern$20 per hour
Internships will run for 10 weeks from June 1 2026 to August 7 2026. The work must be done during the regular workday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. no evenings or weekends.
This is a hybrid position with in-person days located at OMBs offices at 255 Greenwich Street

Qualifications :
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college university or law school.
