Job Summary

Monumental is automating on-site construction with robotics and software. Our mission is to make construction primarily software-defined and work towards a future where beautiful bespoke buildings are built within a single day with minimal labour.


Were a growing team (about 100 team members) of mostly engineers and technicians coming from companies like Palantir Qualcomm Dyson Shopify Tesla Meta and 1X. Its still the early days of building the company and this is a unique opportunity to be an early employee in a high-growth high-ambition startup environment. From Day 1 youll be able to work with an experienced founding team backed by top-tier investors.

Monumental is based near Artis zoo in the Plantage in the city center of Amsterdam. We have a beautiful office with an in-house workshop and robot testing facility. Were explicitly not a hybrid or remote-first company: we enjoy collaborating 5 days a week at the office. About you and this role

The engineers we want to hire dont usually apply to job posts. Theyre probably not browsing LinkedIn and when a recruiter reaches out with a generic template InMail they ignore it.

Weve grown from 15 to 100 people in under two years. Our R&D team covers software mechanical electrical controls perception and forward deployments engineers - and we need someone who can source for them full time.

Youll own inbound applications in R&D while finding creative ways to reach candidates then manage them through the process end to end. Youll work closely with our hiring team to understand what were building and why so you can effectively grow our team.

We want someone who biases towards deep technical sourcing over volume. You will operate with significant autonomy and ownership and deliver against our hiring plan with speed and precision. You iterate rapidly on your sourcing ideas youre data driven and most importantly - you know what great engineers look and sound like and how to engage them.

Important: due to other hiring priorities Interviews for this role will only start in the weeks of March 23 & 30

What youll be responsible for

  • Owning sourcing and inbound pipeline for technical roles across software and hardware

  • Finding new ways to engage talent in unlikely places - personal websites GitHub citations Discord servers Substack YouTube - whatever works

  • Partnering with hiring managers to deeply understand each role and what good looks like

  • Delivering memorable candidate experience from top of funnel to final interview stage

  • Analysing sourcing metrics and iterating on whats working to accelerate hiring across R&D

What were looking for

  • Youve sourced for tough-to-fill engineering roles before - software hardware or both - and you can already think of engineers in your network whod be interested in Monumental

  • You have high standards. Youd rather tell a hiring manager a search is taking longer than put a mediocre candidate in front of them

  • Genuine interest in technology. You dont need to be an engineer but you should be able to hold a semi-technical conversation about what someone builds and why it matters

  • Hiring managers trust you quickly. You earn credibility through competence and consistently delivering on what you say you will.

  • You pride yourself on giving outstanding candidate experience. Youve probably placed candidates into multiple companies through long-term relationship building

  • Strong written and verbal communication - your outreach messages get replies because theyre human specific and thoughtful and you know how to stand out on a first call

  • You are comfortable working through ambiguity. Were scaling fast priorities change roles and process will evolve - this doesnt faze you

  • You are high ownership. If something isnt working - process inefficient workflows or missed opportunities - you come up with a solution to fix it yourself

  • You have experience working for a VC backed startup or scale-up

  • Familiarity with the European/Dutch start up ecosystem

Nice to have

  • Experience hiring in deep tech robotics or hardtech

  • Dutch language skills are useful but not hard required

  • Experience with Ashby ATS
